Reasons for Speaking Spanish

To be honest, the reasons as to why a person should learn to speak Spanish are numerous and very hard to ignore. Let's start with the fact that Spanish the fourth most popular and commonly spoken language in the world, and if you were to take a close look you would find that there are more people whose native tongue is Spanish then there are those whose native tongue is English. Spanish is the official language on 4 continents and has significance historical importance all over the world.
With that being said, here are a number of reasons as to why it is a good idea to learn how to speak Spanish.
You will understand English better. The origins of many of the words in the English language are rooted in Latin, which came to be English by the way of the French. Spanish is obviously also a Latin language. Both Spanish and English also have Indo-European roots which make them grammatically similar also. So speaking Spanish will help you understand English because it will make your think about how what you say is constructed.
The second reason speaking Spanish should be a priority is that there are more Spanish speaking people in the United States then there were a few years ago. The Spanish speaking population is no longer restricted to the Mexican Border States.
Travel is another reason speaking Spanish is important. While you can go to Mexico or Spain without speaking Spanish at all, but if you really want to have fun while you are vacationing it helps to know the language. You don't have to travel outside of the US either to find knowing Spanish helpful in your travels, New Mexico, Texas, California and even Indiana have large Spanish speaking populations.
There is also a certain amount of cultural understanding that happens when you are learn to speak Spanish. When you learn Spanish, or any language for that matter, it allows you to peek inside the mind of native Spanish speaking people to see how it is they learn and think. Plus the Spanish culture also offers a plethora of literature that is traditional and modern.
Finally, speaking Spanish is easy. It is actually one of the easiest foreign languages you can learn. So much of the vocabulary is similar to the English vocabulary and Spanish is written almost completely phonetically. By looking at any Spanish word you can pretty much tell how it is going to be pronounced. While mastering the grammar side can be challenging, the basic grammar is simple enough that you can have a conversation with another Spanish speaking person after only a few lessons.
A new job requirement or an important quality to have is to be able to speak Spanish. This is especially important in the medical field, financial community and if your job involves any international trading. Learning to speak Spanish is fun and easy. There are also numerous benefits to speaking Spanish.
